A callus is a localized thickening of the skin, caused by repeated pressure or friction in an area, often on the foot. The body produces an excessive amount of skin cells to protect itself from pressure, thus forming a layer of dead and hardened skin. Continuous pressure forces the dead skin cells to take on a typical shape, penetrating deeper into the skin layers. When it reaches the nerve endings, the callus becomes painful.
The plaster provides relief by removing pressure from the callus to the surrounding area. The hydrocolloid technology creates an optimal environment for healing and deeply hydrates the callus, softening it to facilitate removal.
