Description
Nasal ointment intended for the treatment of epistaxis. EPISTAS is a hydrophilic ointment in which microgranules of pectin and gelatin are dispersed. Pectin is a polysaccharide substance of plant origin that behaves like a hydrophilic colloid. Gelatin, a purified protein, also has significant hydrophilic properties. The two substances, due to their ability to absorb liquids, form a protective “film” that, in EPISTAS, acts mechanically to stop nasal bleeding, creating a barrier at the level of fragile capillaries in the nasal mucosa.

Components
PEG 400, PEG 4000, gelatin, pectin, benzalkonium chloride solution (50%).

Usage instructions
Apply a dose of ointment in the nostrils, possibly using a gauze, compressing the nose from the outside with fingers.

Warnings
Do not ingest. Avoid contact with eyes. In case of accidental contact, wash eyes with plenty of water. Keep out of reach of children. After use, ensure the nozzle is clean before closing the tube; if not, clean it with a disinfectant solution. Personal use of the device is recommended. Do not use if hypersensitive or allergic to any of the components. If the product causes sensitization, discontinue use and consult a doctor. The use, especially if prolonged, of all topical products may lead to sensitization. In such cases, consult a doctor for appropriate therapy.

Storage
The expiration date refers to the product in intact packaging and properly stored. Do not use the device after the expiration date indicated on the package. Reseal the tube after use. Store at room temperature. Do not expose to heat sources. Do not dispose of the container in the environment. Validity in intact packaging: 36 months.
