SERESTO Collar 1.25 g + 0.56 g for dogs 1-8 kg
Method of use
The product is effective against larvae, nymphs, and adult ticks. Ticks already present on the dog before treatment may not be killed within 48 hours after application of the collar and may remain attached and visible.
Remove the collar from the protective bag just before use. Unroll the collar and ensure that there are no plastic connector residues inside the collar. Adjust the collar around the animal’s neck without tightening too much (as a guide, it should be possible to insert 2 fingers between the collar and the animal’s neck).
Slide any excess collar through the loop and cut off any part exceeding 2 cm.
The collar must be worn continuously for the protection period of 8 months and should be removed after the treatment period.
Periodically check and adjust the size if necessary, especially when puppies are growing rapidly.
Storage
This veterinary medicinal product does not require any special storage conditions.
Warnings
Generally, ticks will be killed and fall off the host within 24-48 hours of infestation, without having taken a blood meal.
It is not possible to exclude that individual ticks may attach after treatment.
For this reason, if conditions are unfavorable, the transmission of infectious diseases by ticks cannot be completely ruled out.
As with all long-term topical products, periods of excessive seasonal shedding may cause a slight and transient reduction in effectiveness due to the loss of some active ingredients bound to the fur.
The replenishment of active ingredients from the collar begins immediately, restoring total effectiveness without any additional treatment or replacement of the collar.
For optimal control of flea problems in heavily infested domestic environments, it may be necessary to treat the environment with a suitable insecticide.
The product is water-resistant and remains effective even if the animal gets wet.
However, prolonged and intense exposure to water, as well as abundant washing with shampoo, should be avoided, as the duration of activity may be reduced.
Studies show that monthly washing with shampoo or immersion in water does not significantly reduce the 8-month duration of effectiveness against ticks after redistribution of active ingredients in the fur, while the product’s effectiveness against fleas gradually decreases starting from the 5th month.
– Special precautions for those administering the product to animals: keep the bag containing the collar in the packaging until the time of use.
As with all veterinary medicinal products, do not allow small children to play with the collar or put it in their mouths.
Do not allow animals wearing the collar to sleep in the same bed as the owner, especially if children are present. People with known sensitivity to the components of the collar should avoid contact with it.
Immediately dispose of all residues or scraps of the collar.
After applying the collar, wash hands with cold water.
– Overdose: due to the nature of the collar, overdose is unlikely and no signs of overdose should be expected. An overdose of 5 collars around the neck has been studied in adult dogs for a period of 8 months and in 7-week-old puppies for a period of 6 months, without observing any adverse events, except for slight hair loss and mild skin reactions.
In the unlikely event that the animal eats the collar, mild gastrointestinal symptoms (e.g., soft stools) may occur.
Format
